BURGER CIRCUS CELEBRATES 10 YEARS OF SMASHIN’ GOOD BURGERS

This September, Burger Circus proudly celebrates its 10th anniversary, marking a decade of serving up USDA Prime beef burgers, hand-smashed to perfection, alongside crisp fries, decadent shakes and warm hospitality in the heart of SoHo. Since opening its doors in 2015, the homegrown retro Americana diner has withstood the test of time, becoming a beloved neighbourhood fixture for locals and tourists alike.

Inspired by the all-American diners of the late 19th century through to the 1950s, Burger Circus pays nostalgic tribute to an enduring tradition of good food and great service. Its carriage-shaped interior recalls the mobile railcar diners of the past, while the vintage soda fountain counter, manned by charming Soda Jerks, brings to life the charm, character and community spirit that made diners cultural icons. Over the past decade, Burger Circus has earned a loyal following by remaining true to its roots, serving comforting, familiar recipes crafted with the highest quality ingredients, executed with care and delivered with exceptional service. It is a place for everyone, from families and friends to late-night diners, where the atmosphere is always warm and welcoming.

To mark this milestone year, Burger Circus will host a month-long celebration throughout September. Guests can look forward to the return of four of the restaurant’s most popular burgers from the past: Maytag Blue, Filet-O-Fish, Sliders and Juicy Lucy, alongside special offers such as Twofer Tuesdays, featuring two burgers for the price of one. Sundays will see a playful twist with guests invited to dress in pink to receive a burger on us with the purchase of a drink, while throughout the month diners can take part in the Build Your Own Burger challenge, with the winning creation set to feature as October’s Burger of the Month. Adding to the fun, every dine-in guest will receive a Scratch & Win card, with prizes ranging from fries and shakes to bigger surprises. From 22 to 28 September, in collaboration with Messina, the diner will debut an exclusive milkshake, The Big Float, featuring vanilla gelato with a root beer swirl. The celebration will also include a classic American birthday cake, Confetti Cake from Butter for the whole of September, the release of limited-edition anniversary stickers and the ultimate prize for one lucky guest: Burger Circus combos on us for a year.

PENG LENG JENG EXTENDS THE NEON-LIT DAI PAI DONG EXPERIENCE UNTIL THE END OF 2025

What started as a three-month summer pop-up is just too good to say goodbye. Peng Leng Jeng, the neon-lit love letter to Hong Kong’s dai pai dong culture from Queen of Wok Hei Chef ArChan Chan and hospitality hero Jonathan Leung, will now keep the fires sizzling until the end of the year.

Since opening in June, Peng Leng Jeng has been abuzz with the clatter of chopsticks, the sizzle of woks and the unmistakable camaraderie that dai pai dongs inspire. Guests have flocked to Staunton Street for a taste of nostalgia — and for that elusive breath of the wok — so the team has decided to keep the party going, complete with a round of new dishes to last guests into the cooler months.

Sweet additions join the line-up with Crispy Banana dipped in peanut sauce and Golden Mantou with coconut condensed milk, while guest favourites make their return, including the Wok-Fried Lobster with glutinous rice and the rowdy Typhoon Shelter Crab.

The 20 per cent off perk for fellow hospitality peers will continue, keeping Peng Leng Jeng a favourite post-shift hangout. Inside, the vibe remains as electric as ever: Cantopop from the ‘80s, ‘90s and ‘00s on the speakers, classic Hong Kong drinking games at the ready and a fridge full of Blue Girl and other local favourites. Outside, the flicker of neon keeps watch over Staunton Street, a reminder that some traditions are too good to fade quietly.

Peng Leng Jeng is now open until 31 December 2025, 1/F, Staunton Suites, 22 Staunton Street, SoHo. For more information or reservation, visit here or follow us on Instagram.

SERPENTE ALLA GIGI: CHEF ROBERTA OF FALCONE TEAMS UP WITH GIGI NG OF SER WONG FUN

Chef Roberta De Sario, the powerhouse behind FALCONE and ranked #85 on the World’s Best Pizza list, joins forces with Gigi Ng, the fourth-generation owner of the city’s legendary snake soup institution, Ser Wong Fun, to create a pizza unlike any other.

A long-time FALCONE regular, Gigi has often professed her love for the restaurant. Inspired by her heritage and culinary legacy and guided by Chef Roberta’s craft, the two have dreamed up the Serpente alla Gigi, a bold pizza layered with locally bred snake, black fungus, tangy tomato and smoked mozzarella.

“Ser Wong Fun has been part of Hong Kong’s dining story for over a century. Gigi has always shared her affection for FALCONE, so bringing her family’s heritage into our kitchen felt natural. To reinterpret something so deeply rooted in tradition through the language of pizza was a challenge I embraced with great respect – and, of course, a touch of FALCONE’s playful spirit,” said Chef Roberta.

Serpente alla Gigi will be available exclusively at FALCONE IFC throughout September.

JEAN-PIERRE INTRODUCES MARDI ROUGE

Jean-Pierre, Black Sheep’s homage to the charming and decadent bistros of Paris, unveils Mardi Rouge, a monthly evening of live music, bistro fare and good company. Starting 9 September and going forward on the first Tuesday of every month, the restaurant dims the lights and sets the scene for a night of Champagne and excess as the resident pianist and raconteur weaves melodies through the dining room.

Mardi Rouge caters to every mood: woo a lover over a Cornichon Martini, entertain friends with steak au poivre and Burgundy, or simply savour the pleasures of a night lived extra large. “Hospitality has always carried a sense of theatre,” says Marc Hofmann. “With Mardi Rouge, we add another layer of performance, where live music and hospitality come together in celebration.”

Inaugural event: Tuesday, 9 September from 6pm | Reservations required here, minimum spend HK$1,200 per guest | Repeats monthly on the first Tuesday, including public holidays

A TASTE OF COASTAL MEXICO WITH MARISCOS MEXICANA AT TAQUERIA SUPER MACHO

Taqueria Super Macho brings the lively spirit of Mexico’s coastline to Hong Kong with the launch of Mariscos Mexicana, a new dining experience inspired by the country’s vibrant marisquerías.

Along the shores of Mexico, life is set to the rhythm of the sea. Fishermen return with the morning’s catch, beachside kitchens fill with the scent of the ocean, and tables overflow with camarones, ostiones and fresh limes. As the sun dips, music drifts through the air, tacos sizzle on the plancha and amigos gather late into the night.

This coastal energy now takes over at Taqueria Super Macho with Mariscos Mexicana. Guests can look forward to icy displays of shrimp, oysters and lobster, bright ceviches and aguachiles and fish tacos made to order at the live taco station. The feast is paired with endless pours of cervezas and margaritas, capturing the carefree seaside spirit of coastal Mexico in the heart of SoHo.
