Black Sheep Debuts La Vache!’s Grandest Brasserie Yet at Exchange Square, with Peak Pizza Opening Next Door

Hong Kong’s beloved Parisian-style steakhouse opens its fifth and largest location, bringing its signature steak frites experience, plus private dining rooms, a dedicated bar and Peak Pizza next door.

For over a decade, La Vache! has shaped a very particular ritual in Hong Kong: one table, one menu, no fuss and a crowd that arrives hungry and leaves happy. What began in SoHo grew quickly to Tsim Sha Tsui, The Peak and Admiralty, each branch carrying the same warm, energetic and unpretentious Parisian brasserie spirit. Now, the beloved entrecôte steakhouse takes on its largest home yet at Exchange Square in the heart of Central, ready to welcome long-time regulars and new neighbours alike. The Aujourd’hui menu formula remains unchanged, and that is precisely the point. Guests sit down to a basket of freshly-baked warm baguette and an organic green salad, light and crisp, followed by USDA Prime ribeye sliced to reveal its marbled richness, served with golden frites that never run empty. Pots of La Vache!’s signature sauce are placed on the table and quickly become the centre of conversation. The appeal lies in elevated simplicity: no overthinking, no elaborate menus, just ingredients treated well and served with confidence. It is the kind of meal Parisians swear by: honest, abundant and généreux. Because of this, La Vache! has become a fixture for so many Hong Kong diners. Some know it as their go-to business lunch, others for birthdays, midweek dinners, date nights or the evenings when nothing sounds quite as good as a great steak and a bottle of wine. It is reliable in the best way: straightforward, sincere and always imbued with that Parisian joie de vivre.

La Vache! Exchange Square Food

The opening of the Exchange Square branch marks a new chapter. It is the largest La Vache! to date, built for bigger tables, louder evenings and long stretches of good wine. Two private dining rooms sit within the space, each made for birthdays, team dinners and the sort of gatherings that never end after the first steak arrives. At the front of the room, a dedicated bar brings back one of Central’s favourite places to drink: a lively counter for guests who come for a glass and stay for the night. Wine flows easily; bottles opened, topped up, passed around without ceremony. The bar will also serve a short list of hearty snacks unique to this location, including the Burger Maison with brioche, caramelised onions and melted raclette, and the La Vache! Steak Sandwich on a crisp baguette with USDA aged ribeye, caramelised onions and horseradish crème. Nothing complicated, just the sort of food that fits naturally between drinks: something salé for the table, something warm for the group that keeps adding chairs, something to share with co-workers who decide, at the last minute, that they are staying out.

The interior designed by American architect and designer Sean Dix carries the familiar La Vache! mood with a certain Parisian je ne sais quoi; the kind of warmth and intimacy found in bistro corners tucked away on a Left Bank side street. Tables set close enough to feel part of the room’s lively hum, complemented by rich reds, dark wood, and mirrors that catch the light. The effect is warm and immediate, like a brasserie one might stumble upon in a quiet quartier, set here against the glass and steel of Central’s business district. It feels as though it has always belonged to the city. This is Hong Kong with a little French wink, a nod to the city of lights without ever trying too hard.

The location also shares a wall with a second branch of Peak Pizza, Black Sheep’s New York-style slice shop. Peak Pizza is a loving homage to the classic slice joints of New York City, where slices are served simply, on paper plates lined with wax paper, just as they would be on a Manhattan street corner. The concept first appeared as a pop-up in SoHo in December 2024, before opening its first full branch on The Peak earlier this year. Now, with a permanent home back in Central, it becomes accessible to everyone heading through Exchange Square. This is where you can find affordable New York slices, with flavours including Caprese, Hawaiian, White and a rotating Chef’s Special every month. Whole pies are ready for office orders, late-night cravings, and everything in between. Together, the two concepts create a lively corner of Exchange Square that shifts comfortably from afternoon to night. “Our goal has always been to offer places where people can gather, enjoy themselves and feel welcomed,” says Black Sheep Founder, Syed Asim Hussain. “These two new addresses at Exchange Square give us the chance to welcome even more guests with bigger tables, bigger celebrations and the same spirit that made La Vache! and Peak Pizza what they are today. We are proud to see these two stories continue to grow in our home city of Hong Kong.”
