Chef Jongwon Son of Seoul’s Eatanic Garden (One Michelin Star; #68 on Asia’s Best 2023) and L’Amant Secret (One Michelin Star), will be joining Hong Kong’s Belon, as he works alongside his mentor Chef Matthew Kirkley. The eight-course menu on the two evenings will highlight a series of dishes from Chef Kirkley and Chef Son’s time at Coi, items that brought the restaurant to three stars.

The New Punjab Club is a small venue but packs a considerable punch. Its proprietors, the Black Sheep group of restaurants, claim the tandoori grill restaurant “harkens back to the liberated era of postcolonial Pakistan and India”. The conceit starts as soon as you arrive and is greeted by an elegant, elderly Sikh gentleman at the front door.

‘We both want to push the envelope’: Thai Dang’s family fled Vietnam and spent some time in refugee camps before settling in the US, where he realised his passion for cooking. He opened a successful restaurant in Chicago but had to start over. He has a fan in Hong Kong, Vietnamese chef John Nguyen, who invited him for a collaboration.

Chefs Teya Mikhael and Palash Mitra of Maison Libanaise and New Punjab Club, two restaurants in Hong Kong, helped raise HK$70,000 (US$8,900) for victims of the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria by staging a four-hands dinner.

Syed Asim Hussain won the Restaurateur of the Year award, significantly impacting the dining scene with his vision. The Magistracy won the Best Interior Design award, and ArChan Chan, Ho Lee Fook chef, won the Local Champion Award.
