We have a strong and celebrated South Asian contingent. Over the years, Black Sheep team members have actively participated in the community with their time and skills to support the work at Khalsa Diwan Sikh Temple, offering free vegetarian meals, known as langar, to anyone who walks through the doors regardless of faith or ethnicity. In 2022, Black Sheep donated HK$600,000 towards the renovation fund of the Khalsa Diwan Sikh Temple to support its extensive enhancement project.
Family Fund
What is the Family Fund?
Family Fund is Black Sheep’s formal charity arm that continues our history of supporting community partners and those in need.
Community is the cornerstone upon which we are built, and the Family Fund has always been our commitment to making meaningful change within that community. Taking care of the people within our charge strengthened our ability to take care of our guests – genuine hospitality, empathy and care begins with those closest.
While our original focus was internal, supporting team members through interest-free grants and loans, in 2023 we introduced an external arm to the work that we do. Our Family Fund Board decided which causes we want to support, the first of which is our charity partnership with Feeding Hong Kong.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Each quarter, a portion of our profits go into the Family Fund, a financial assistance programme providing opportunities and peace of mind to our team.
HOW MANY REQUESTS HAVE WE FULFILLED?
In the last 10 years, we have supported over 250 requests in the form of grants and interest-free loans for our team, estimated at around HK$10 million.

FEEDING HONG KONG
Feed people, not landfills. Our work with Feeding Hong Kong connects us closely and in a different, but still meaningful way, with the wider Hong Kong community. We have committed to providing HK$3 million over the next two years to a shared mission of reducing food waste and feeding charities.

Care Pakistan
Founder Syed Asim Hussain sits on the Board of Directors for CARE Pakistan, an NGO committed to building schools and providing educational opportunities to underprivileged children in communities throughout the region. We have committed to donating HK$8 from each check at New Punjab Club to CARE. To date, we have raised HK$800,000.
EMERGENCY RELIEF FUNDRAISING
Turkey & Syria Earthquake
Connected through humanity, Black Sheep has been at the forefront of leading emergency disaster relief in times of tragedy and need. In 2023, we raised HK$125,000 in our relief efforts for the devastation in Turkey and Syria, with funds distributed to three charities with real on-the-ground impact – Turkish Red Crescent, Syrian Arab Red Crescent and AHBAP.
Pakistan Flood
In 2022, Black Sheep raised funds with a dollar-for-dollar match of donations to support the relief efforts in Pakistan after the catastrophic floods. Near and dear to Black Sheep founder Syed Asim Hussain’s heart, Hussain attended school in Pakistan, with many of his family members still in the country. With overwhelming support from the community, our efforts raised over half a million HKD, with funds distributed to CARE Pakistan, Sab Saath and Unicef’s WASH program.
