Butter Just Got a Whole Lot Sweeter
You know Butter as the online bakery dedicated to making the goods for all your celebratory events. But, have you ever wondered how Butter makes all their cakes so darn tasty? Wonder no-more as your favourite online cake shop invites groups of up to four for private baking classes with Head Pastry Chef Karys Logue.
Born and raised in Tucson, Arizona, a place known more for its cacti and canyons than its culinary scene, Chef Karys’ first taste of F&B was selling fish tacos and making salsas at a local Baja-style restaurant. With major plans to study Neuroscience, the self-proclaimed ‘huge nerd’ was as surprised as anyone when she ventured to New York and enrolled at the Culinary Institute of America (CIA). But the love for methodology never left her, and she learned to apply the same puzzle-solving, pin-point focus to food as she had to science.
While studying at CIA, she worked under industry heavyweights like Francisco Miyoga, a mentor and friend who taught her that pastry was an art, a science and an aesthetic all rolled into one. Later, Karys worked under Noah Carroll, who later became her co-chef at Dominique Ansel Bakery, best known for the invention of the cronut! Together, they experimented with flavours and techniques, creating something new and exciting that lived between the space of beauty and science and she was hooked.
Now ready to share her passion for, and a little bit of the science behind, the art of baking with others, you can join Chef Karys in baking some of Butters most classic sweets. Choose from Triple Chocolate Cake, Carrot Cake, Apple Pie or a baking class exclusive S’mores Cake and show off your skills. With bubbles on arrival and retro beats to keep things upbeat, after class you can take home your masterpiece to share (or not). But, with limited spots available, we would suggest keeping these classes between you and the rest of The Herd!
