Black Sheep Restaurants and Tatler have come together once again to bring to life another transportive pop-up experience right in the heart of Central. This season’s collaboration introduces all the magic of a very Alpine winter to Tai Kwun, evoking the nostalgia of winter nights spent strolling along cobblestone streets, lightly dusted with snow from the surrounding mountains, as you tuck away with family and friends in the warmth of a chalet for a feast full of joy and traditional seasonal bites.
With its rustic and cosy interiors, reminiscent of the kind of snug, wooden cabins you vaguely remember drinking too much Schnapps in after a day of skiing, Chalet des Alpes is the perfect hideaway from the brisk winter winds. As with any chalet experience, the evening is best started warming up at the bar where guests are welcome to join prior to their dinner reservation for a tipple or two at the Monkey 47 Inn. Featuring a menu of classic cocktails and festive drinks such as Eggnog and two exclusive gin & tonics, saddle up to the bar and begin the evening immersed in the sights and sounds of a bustling mountainside restaurant.
With only one set menu, the hearty après-ski feast includes a traditional raclette with charcuterie and crudités, Alpine cheese and Schnapps fondue, Beef stroganoff with mushrooms and shaved black truffles and, to finish, a Chestnut pear swiss cake roll with chestnut buttercream and confit, poached pear and finished with caramel and vanilla Chantilly cream and a rich dark chocolate fondue served with signature items perfect to dip including Japanese strawberries and cheesecake. A wine list of hand-selected French and Swiss references curated by our team of expert sommeliers pairs perfectly alongside the meal as you cosy up inside and dusk settles in over the city. Bringing a little Swiss charm to the centre of the city, Swiss luxury watchmaker Hublot introduces exclusive moments scattered throughout the space creating a sense of discovery around every corner, made to elevate the festive atmosphere.
Delve further into the Alpine winter experience and reserve a spot at the intimate eight-seat bar tucked away from the main dining room and embark on a guided Champagne or Whisky Masterclass highlighting premium selections from the Pernod Ricard portfolio. Elevate your dining experience and learn the finer details of Perrier-Jouët with a champagne tasting flight or embark on a guided journey through a line-up of rare single malt whiskies from Glenlivet and Scapa, a collection from Scotland’s most revered whisky locations. For small groups looking for an interlude to their evening or an after-work activity to bring in a little spirit of the season, these expert-led Masterclasses have limited availability and can be booked separately from dinner at Chalet des Alpes.
Whether wandering the snowy streets of Europe is a closely cherished memory or the journey is pure fantasy for you, Black Sheep Restaurants and Tatler are giving guests the chance to be whisked away and live out their winter wonderland dreams in one of the most historic Hong Kong buildings.
In partnership with Hublot and Monkey 47.
