No matter what the occasion, cake is always the answer, and no one does it better than Hong Kong’s favourite cake shop, Butter. After countless birthdays, baby showers, engagement parties and other festive events, our homegrown cake shop, led by Pastry Chef Karys Logue, has expanded from a small, digital bakery into a landmark destination for classic American diner desserts in the city. With a portfolio of nostalgic, core classics and a number of seasonal offerings on rotation, Butter Cake Shop is delighting sweet tooths with the opening of its inaugural home this month right in the heart of SoHo on Staunton Street.
Craving cake on demand? While Butter’s classic diner desserts previously required 48 hours pre-order notice, we are now offering a limited number of classic cakes and nostalgic pies for purchase daily, available for pick up from right where they are baked. So, for any of those last-minute surprises or homemade birthday cake disasters to unexpected cravings, Butter Cake Shop has you covered.
Weekends at Butter’s home base are set to be a treat, as the Cake Shop gears up for limited edition specials set to run on Saturdays and Sundays only. Starting from 22 October, follow Butter on Instagram to catch weekly updates on these takeaway treats, from tangy Lemon Bars to Chef Karys’ recipe for Banana Bread. Get surrounded by the sights and smells of Butter Cake Shop, and pick up a small sweet treat on the way through SoHo or grab a whole cake to-go and peek over the counter to witness the Butter team whip up their classic Americana magic.
In honour of the opening, Butter Cake Shop is launching a limited-time American celebration classic, Confetti Cake. This childhood dream come true is a buttery vanilla cream cake layered with rich and fluffy vanilla buttercream frosting and packed full of rainbow sprinkles. Picture perfect, this sweet treat is certain to draw up memories of birthdays gone by, and will be available to order whole starting from 22 October via the brand new Butter Cake Shop website, GO or by slice only at the LANDMARK pop-up.
The cake shop’s first offline location, LANDMARK, gave Head Pastry Chef Karys Logue and her team the opportunity to introduce Hong Kong to even more sweet treats, rotating through seasonal offerings including Key Lime Pie, Strawberry Shortcake and S’mores Cake. To a resounding welcome, Butter at LANDMARK has been selling out almost daily for the past ten months.
“Opening the pop-up at LANDMARK has been a great way for us to meet even more of our guests, hear their feedback and really see what they love about Butter,” says Logue. “I could not be more excited that we will finally have a spot we can call home, where we can welcome guests in for Baking Classes or even a sneak peek at the work we do day-in and day-out, but most excitingly, we will be able to bring them even more delightful diner desserts to try!”
Butter Cake Shop is now open on 34B Staunton Street, serving as the official pick-up location for whole cake orders and offering a limited number of whole cakes for day-of purchase. Get your sweet fix here.
